Notarized Letter Required
Attention licensed contractors and owner/builders:
If you authorize an agent or permit service to obtain permits using your contractor's license, or to represent you as an owner, that agent or permit service must have a notarized letter, bearing your signature, authorizing the bearer to obtain building permits on your behalf. For your protection, the City will not accept letters that have not been properly notarized. For more information, please contact the Building and Safety Division at (562) 905-9710.
What is an Owner/Builder?
Beginning January 1, 2009 look for these new changes:
Two new laws pertaining to building activities will go into effect January 1, 2009. These bills relate to a newly established State fee for building permits and a new declaration form for "owner-builder" projects.
