O.C. Youth Center Success Ladder
Do you want to get started on a career? Do you want to make money?
The new, innovative Success Ladder model will connect you to education and career options that will meet your needs. The Success Ladder links you with businesses, education, training and counseling. Moveover, the Success Ladder model offers choices and options, while providing guidance as you work toward completing your career and educational goals. Join the Success Ladder program and participate in exciting activities, earn cash incentives, and receive paid work experience! We make learning FUN!
The Success Ladder Model offers you exposure to each of the 10 Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program elements:
1. Tutoring, study skills and instruction leading to completion of secondary school, including dropout prevention strategies.
2. Alternative secondary school services (High School Diploma completion or GED)
3. Summer employment opportunities directly linked to academic and occupational learning.
4. Paid and unpaid work experiences including job shadowing and internships as appropriate.
5. Occupational skills training as appropriate.
6. Leadership development opportunities, which may include community service and peer-centered activities encouraging responsiblity and other positive social behaviors during non-school hours as appropriate.
7. Supportive services.
8. Adult mentoring for the period of participation and follow-up.
9. Follow-up services for not less than 12 months after the completion of participation.
10. Comprehensive guidance and counseling, which may include drug and alcohol abuse counseling and referrals, as appropriate.
